Oggy Boytchev is an author and journalist. In his career at the BBC, which spanned 25 years, he has produced TV news reports and documentaries from more than 60 countries and from the world's main war zones.

His collaboration with the BBC's World Affairs Editor, John Simpson took him on dangerous and undercover assignments around the world. Oggy's book 'Simpson & I - Between Two Worlds' (2014) chronicles that time. 'The Unbeliever' (2018), a panorama of Cold War intrigue charts the life of a real spy. 'BULLION - The Mystery of Gaddafi's Gold' (2023) is and adventure spy thriller based on factual research.

Oggy was born in communist Bulgaria. He defected to Britain in 1986.
